About Me

Rochelle Ritchie is a television host, reporter, and writer, who has been featured on several networks including Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, MSNBC, CNN, i24 News, The Breakfast Club, Revolt TV, and News Nation Now.

For more than a decade, Rochelle held reporter positions in Baltimore (WJZ-TV), West Palm Beach, Fla. (WPTV), Spokane, Wash., (KREM-TV), and Lawton, Okla. (KSWO-TV). Her most notable interview was an exclusive report with former first lady Michelle Obama during the 2008 campaign. In 2009, Rochelle made national headlines for cutting off her hair on television as part of a story that focused on the numerous health and professional obstacles black women face for not conforming to Eurocentric standards of beauty. The story led to multiple features in Essence magazine, USA Today, and others. As a result of her courage, thousands of Black women in the media industry are embraced to wear their natural hair, or other Afro-centric hairstyles of their choosing.

While reporting in Baltimore, Rochelle assisted in the apprehension of a suspect wanted for shooting a Baltimore Police officer. The shooter, having recognized Rochelle as a respected crime reporter, contacted her directly to turn himself in. She and her photographer met the suspect near the police station where they interviewed him, exclusively, before he was placed under arrest. He was later sentenced to life.

Following her tenure as a television reporter, Rochelle became the Director of Communications for the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City, led by State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby, Esq. During the Freddie Gray police brutality case, Rochelle was the direct media liaison and spokesperson throughout the trial.

Prior to her appearances on national and international networks, Rochelle also served as a congressional Press Secretary for the House of Representatives. While working on Capitol Hill, she developed strong relationships with national media outlets and facilitated interviews for members of Congress. Rochelle’s media experience made her a trusted press consultant who also provided media training to communications staff. Following the non-fatal shooting of Representative Steve Scalise, Rochelle worked across the aisle to facilitate a bi-partisan interview on national networks to show unity between opposing parties in regard to gun violence.

Rochelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from Western Kentucky University. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Austria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg). She earned her Master of Arts in communications from Johns Hopkins University. She was born on the Southside of Chicago, before moving to Lexington, Kentucky as an adolescent.
